New Om Copper Enamel Pendant

Ever since I decided to attempt making an Om pendant for a giveaway, I wanted to try and make another. Well, there it is. The supreme symbol, Mother of Sound Om speaks to the universal sound of peace and divine. I'm so happy that I made this pendant and that it turned out the way it did.
Peace and Love. Namaste!! Ommmmmmm..............................

Have a great day.

Singing Partner Back

Did I ever tell you that I sing at parties and sometimes nightclubs? Well, yes I do. I sing whatever the occasion calls for. Country, pop, rock, etc. I even sang opera last year with a big choir. The thing is, I don't like to work alone and my partner is away for 6 months of the year because she goes back to Quebec. Well, she's back and now we start practicing.

i started singing about 20 years ago at small functions and then ended up doing a few supper clubs back home in laval, Quebec, Canada.

When I first started I used to sing in quite few retirement homes and was always in costume, hello dolly, etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm no Celine Dion or Barbra Streisand but.......

Have a great day filled with peace and Love. Namaste

Spirituality

I really have started to get more into yoga. I love the ashtanga yoga that we are doing because it's very challenging so I don't get bored. We are blessed with an amazing teacher because she brings so many different aspects to our practice. Breathing, meditating, challenging asanas, really fast flows and best of all, she is a very spiritual being. I feel that I can learn and grow from this practice more than anything else I've ever done. I feel love sitting in my heart more and more. Call me weird, I don't care.
May peace and love find a place to sit in your heart today. Namaste

spin

I'm off to the gym. I want to lift some weight, pump that iron before my spin class. Yesterday I took my regular ashtanga yoga 1+1/2 class and I can sure feel it today.
I listed a few new enamels and some wirewrap this weekend so I feel that I've accomplished something. I gave in and enameled in the heat.
I've started a new hobby, soapmaking. Right now I've just bought some good melt and pour from Brambleberry but I'm working up the nerve to try and make some from scratch. It's a lot of fun and being an aromatherapist I have tons of essential oils that can be used in the process. I like the fact of making my own soap from scratch and it being natural and beneficial to my skin. I bought some molds and have already given away some really nice soap. I even made some buddha soap!! I did grow and dry my own herbs that I've used in some of the soap. ex. lavender, rosemary, thyme umm they smell sooo good.
The point is that I'm really tired of all the chemicals that surround us and anything that I can contribute to make my planet greener I'm game for
May peace and love sit in your heart today. Namaste!

No conclusion Etsy Artfire

Do you have a favorite place? I'm still on both etsy and artfire and can't decide where to stay. Some people tell me that it's better to have more than one site but I might be one of those individuals who does better with one shop to concentrate on.
I like things about both. It does seem that etsy is starting to go down the tubes. The share your item function has been removed and here's artfire adding new tools to help the sellers. Things aren't looking up.
To change the subject, I did manage to make a few new enameled pieces this week. I had been putting it off and waiting for cooler weather but that isn't in the near future with record breaking highs in south florida. I enamel outside and with the hot kiln and temperatures, whew!! We had a couple of cooler days a few weeks ago and boy, did that feel good. I see from my coments that some fellow floridians were also enjoying the very brief reprieve from the oppressive heat.
I've been pretty dedicated to my yoga practice and feel the difference in my life. Yoga's not only about the physical but the spiritual and I must say that we have a very gifted and caring yoga teacher. I feel blessed to have her.
As for the guilds, I don't know which ones I'm going to stay on. Another choice. It seems that there isn't a lot of participation on some of them and I don't want to be the patsie for others. I feel that I would like to support other artists when I really appreciate their work and not because it's their turn on the list!
Well, I guess that's enough blah, blah for one day!
Peace, love and Namaste to all!!

Yes.... Finally, cooler weather

I can't believe that we are finally having a cold front in south florida. It was an excruciatingly hot summer. I know that this beautiful weather probably won't last but I sure intend to enjoy it while it's here. Can you believe that we went from 95 degrees to 53 degrees all in the space of 24 hours? That's a 40 degree difference!!! Wow!!

Oops, almost forgot about Waldo. This month it's really worth playing because each paticipating member of the artfire shops with less that 10 sales is donating a percentage or amount to their foundation of choice. Personally I'm donating $2 from any sales that I have this month to the breast cancer research. My mom just finished her treatments and is a survivor so I think it's a great cause. Playing the Waldo game is free and you win a great prize.
Please check it out here!! www.shopswithlesssalesartfire.blogspot.com and good luck!

Breast Cancer Awareness

Well, we all know that this is breast cancer awareness month. But, it never quite touched me as it did last year. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and only recently finished chemotherapy and radiation therapy. It was, needless to say, a very hard year. Luckily, I was able to be with my mother through this terrible ordeal because I live very close by. Thankfully, she is a survivor. There is little enough that I can do to help this terrible disease but in honor of those less fortunate and my mother I will be donating $2 from avery sale that I have in the month of October. I'm not selecting certain items and this applies to any item in either my etsy or artfire shop.

Maybe together we can someday make a difference.

Peace, love and Namaste to all!

What can I say?

I haven't posted in quite a while and the reason is that I haven't had very much to talk about. I entered a couple of contests on some of the Artfire guilds that I belong to and won some and lost some. That took up a lot of my time.
I do feel guilty because I have received a couple of blog awards and I haven't claimed them yet because I didn't really have the time. Especially to find the next victims, oops, I meant awardees. Is that even a word? Not according to thesaurus!
I have been working on a couple of new projects. I don't always have the time to enamel!
I really can't believe that 6 months ago I didn't even know how to work on a computor let alone blog!!
I can only say that I am so happy that it's finally cooling off here in south florida. What a hot summer we had! Whew! Maybe I'll get more energy back.

One great thing did happen to me recently. I talk on the forums in etsy and made a new friend in France. How surprised and excited was I to receive a letter and a small french recipe booklet in my mailbox. Yes, directly from France. How cool is that?

That's why it's worth all the time and effort online!

Namaste, peace and love. Have a great day!!

Dogs day

Well, I haven't posted for a while because I guess there's nothing new to say. Today I did 1+1/2 hours of yoga followed by 1 hour of powerflex. My husband laughingly often says "off to work dear?" I do love to go to gym at least 5 days per week and even though it's good physically, it's also very good for my psych. I socialize at the gym as well.

Today was the day that I decide to groom my yorkie "Maestro" . He is such a handful that I had to learn how to groom him myself because the professionals couldn't deal with him and I refused to drug him before. I bought him 8 years ago in a petshop after saving a tremendous amount of money and I had always dreamed of having a yorkie. I never had a puppy before having always bought from the spca and I didn't realize for a couple of months that he wasn't normal. The petshop offered to euthanize him and either replace or refund me but I was up to the challenge and eight years later I have learned to cope. He could be compared to an autistic child and will always remain about 3-4 months mentally. But, I love him and he is very affectionate.

Have you tried to find Waldo? It really is a lot of fun, free and you could win a free pair of gorgeous earrings. Give it a try!!! www.shopswithlesssalesartfire.blogspot.com Good luck!

I Won!!!

I can't believe that I won the challenge on Artisan Jewelers Guild on Artfire. The contest was A dog's day afternoon and being very literal minded, I made little scottie enamel earrings!
I'm sure that all my Shameless Self Promotion helped alot. I think I might have twittered about every half hour for the last 3 days!! I emailed friends and voila!!! I didn't think that I was competitive but I sure fooled myself. The competition was fierce!
Thanks to all who voted for me, I really do appreciate you taking the time.
Peace and Love! Namaste!!!

Buddha and My Pendant

Buddha decided to wear my pendant today!! I just finished this piece.
The sun is shining and it's another beautiful day in south Florida. We've had a really hot summer but some of my friends up north in Montreal and Toronto etc, didn't have great weather. I sort of feel bad for them when I start to write on facebook or my blog and I always say, "Good Morning sunshine".
I'm waiting on an order today from Monsterslayer. I bought different types of sterling wire for a few projects that I have in mind. Namely, I started making some wirewrapped rings but I want to go a step further and make the actual ring out of copper or silver enamel and then wrap it. That"ll be putting my own spin on things.
OKAY, I've turned into a shameless self promoter. My pride has completely deserted me. What's wrong with me. I'm not competitive!! RIGHT! I entered a contest on the artfire artisan jewelry guild and can't stop promoting MYSELF!!!!!! Help!
So don't be shy, give a little vote for my copper enameled scottie earrings at
www.artfireajg.blogspot.com I will really appreciate it!!!
Thanks from a shameless self-promoter.
Oh, and have a great day. Peace and love. Namaste!

Sunday,Sunday so good to me!

Yes this is stolen from the Mamas and Papas. Except they said Monday,Monday. I'm having a great day. The sun is shining, lots of good friends, old and new. Isn't that what counts?

I listed a couple of new items in my artfire studio and yes, I also added an artfire kiosk to my facebook friend page. This is so cool. Thanks Artfire, what a fantastic idea!

I worked on an enamel piece and I just love how it came out. The colors have a bit of an oriental look to me. I was going to make some polymer clay beads to match, but I don't have all the colors so, I'm off to Joanne Fabrics to buy some yellow clay. I wanted to take a picture but my camera just died on me. No worry, just batteries that have to be charged. Doesn't this always happen when you're inspired to take pictures?

Hi Tina, from www.shinelikecrazytina.artfire.com just in case you're listening or reading I should say!

My friend Tina has the most amazing trays all handcrafted!!!

Peace and Love to all! Namaste!!

First contest

I entered an item for a contest on one of the artfire guilds. The theme was "A dogs day afternoon" and taking a very literal view, I created little scottie enamel earrings. If you are so inclined, I would appreciate a little support. Please go to www.artfireajg.blogspot.com
Let me just say, the competition is fierce and if I had know it would be so tough I would have probably entered another item. I'm at you're mercy!

Have a great Saturday everyone. Peace and Love! Namaste!

Meet My Friend

Hi all, I'd like you to meet my new best friend, the Pocket Thesaurus. I don't know if its just me but I seem to have forgotten the proper spelling of some words that I haven't used in awhile. Is this what they call "having a senior moment"? How funny is that.

I went to yoga today and OMG am I just sore all over. What a tough class!

Today I want to make some little scottish terrior enamel earrings. I'm going to start on that right now and see how that comes out.

Peace and Love all. Namaste.

My new next door neighbor

So, how else to put this? My mother decided to buy the house next door. Some people think this isn't such a good thing but I'm sort of undecided. I keep having flashes of the program "Everybody loves Raymond". Only time will tell!

I listed a few new items on etsy and artfire. This is another thing I haven't decided about. I would like to concentrate on one venue but, time will tell. Some items are really active on etsy and some on artfire. Everytime I think I've decided something changes.

Yoga was awesome today. Very tough class but keeps me sane. I still think I should have been an amazon warrior. It doesn't matter that I'm only 5"2" I feel taller! Maybe the amazons were pygmies anyways. I love lifting weights, spin class, yoga, pilates, trampoline class, step class.
Hello? My weight doesn't seem to change much. I remember the ladies saying, "Just wait dear, you'll gain weight like we did and have trouble losing it" and me thinking yeah right! Oh well.

Its all good. Have a great day! Namaste, peace and love. That's whats important!

How come my hair finally has gotten thicker and shinier but, has strands of gray running through it?
Can anyone tell me why?

Almost there

I cut some nice 18 guage copper today and prepared a few pieces. I want to make a bracelet and a pendant. I used some malleable copper to cut out some earrings that I want to enamel.
The rest of the afternoon was spent wire wrapping a nice turquoise donut.

Don't you love that feeling of acomplishment? I do.

Off to the guilds. On artfire that is!

Happy Thursday

Hi all, Just got back from a great spinning class. Now, I have to start working on my back to school project for the guild with less that 10 sales on Artfire. Yes, Waldo is back!! I like this.

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

If you thought that was bad!

Hi it's wonder woman again! Just joking. I wish I were. So, if you thought yoga was bad, today was my 1 hour urban rebounding class. Yes, trampoline for an hour. Usually I prefer spinning but there weren't any bikes left.

Have you heard the saying? If you're so smart how come you're poor?
We can apply this in this case and just change some of the words.
If you're so active why are you so fat!

I'm anxiously waiting for my supplies from Fire Mountain and Thompson Enamels. I always get so excited when I'm waiting for new things. It's more exciting than Christmas and the anticipation is killing me. As if I don't have enough things hanging around to work with.

P.S. Yoga is great for your moral as well as your physic. Don't be afraid to try it and go at your own pace!!! Namaste, peace and love all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monday Monday

Monday morning. Yoga for 1+1/2 hour class. Strength training 1 hour. Now, at home and you know what Monday is for don't you? Washing!! Yay, not really but it's got to be done.
Another hot, hot, sunshiney day in south florida. How I envy the snowbirds.
I've always got so many projects whirling around in my head that I confuse myself and don't know where to start. I want to do somemore Om enamel pendants but it's been such a long time since I made any earrings or bracelets that I need to address those as well. I seem to have gotten hung up on pendants. They are my favorite! Change is good!

Namaste, peace and love. Have a great day!!!

A successful Day for Elizabeth

Some people were wondering how the fundraiser for Elizabeth turned out. Well, today was the day and we had a 2 hour yoga flow which was dedicated to Elizabeth. We had a wonderful turnout and managed to collect $2,200. at the fundraiser! A lot of fantastic prizes were raffled off to help achieve this. This of course doesn't include the monies that were donated on line and that keep coming in. My prayers are with Elizabeth and hope that the goals set out for her are realized. I have to say that I'm proud to have participated and now understand a little bit more about the concept: to give is to receive.

Happy Sunday everyone. Namaste, peace and love!

So true

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. How true is this statement? Very!
Last week I had someone with tons of experience critique my Etsy shop and the only thing she found wrong was that my pictures were too distracting and that I should try to photograph using a white background. I took her advice and some of my more recent photos are on white.
Yesterday I was on Etsy forum and we were critiquing the shop above. Well, the critique I received was that my pictures were boring and not exciting enough because there was too much white.
LOL, I'm not upset. BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER!

Enameling

Well, I'm working on a couple of new pieces. One is for the fundraiser for Elizabeth and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it comes out the way I want it to. Enameling is such a touchy thing. Sometimes you start out with one thing and end up with another. I cut a big piece of 18 guage copper to work on a unique pendant. And, another piece is a play on colors. On the one for the fundraiser I managed to paint an Om because afterall, it is a yoga event!

Check out your followers!

Do you ever really take the time to check out who is following you? I've started making a point of it because there is so much information available on some of my followers' blogs. Also, imagine my surprise when I took a quick look and 1 of my followers was a porn site. Yes, lots of bikini clad and naked girls! Well, they're not here anymore. I also think that if someone takes the time to follow me I should at least take a look.

Peace and Love.

For a Good Cause

You all know that I was donating 2 pieces to a fundraiser for a really good cause. I was asking myself which pieces. So, I decided to make a really nice topaz Swarovski necklace and earring set. My second piece will be one of my enamels. Either one that I've already finished or a new one. I hope you haven't forgotten www.helpelizabeth.com

This Sunday is the big day and if you're in the area please feel free to join us for a 2 hour yoga class at Gold's Gym. No fee to get in. There will be raffles, etc so come and have a good day.

Sunday, August 9th, 2009 10:30am-12:30pm Gold's Gym Fort Lauderdale, 1427 E. Commercial Blvd.

New Necklace

I found these clay beads in a store and fell in love with them. I figured I would make a pendant out of polymer clay to match and put it all together. I made the pendant but when I beaded the collar I found that it looked better as it is. More simple, which is sometimes better. I can use the pendant for something else. These beads were made in India.

PLEASE HELP ELIZABETH

Lucky me, today I went to my yoga class as I try to do at least 3 times a week. Some people can no longer walk. My yoga teacher is doing a fund raiser on August 9th,2009 at Gold's Gym to help raise funds for Elizabeth. Elizabeth is only 38 years old and is in the later stage of neurological lyme disease further complicated by many co-infections. Her day is constant pain and nothing but. She now crawls bacause she can't walk anymore. I can't describe everything but if you would take a few minutes to read about Elizabeth or maybe help in anyway you can it would sure be appreciated. Maybe help spread the word!! I am personally attending the fundraiser in August and everyone is welcome to this free 2 hour class. Even $1.00 would help. I am donating 2 pieces of jewelry to be raffled off at the fundraiser.

Please take the time to read this http://www.helpelizabeth.net/. Thanks and god bless you!!

Catching Up

I have to catch up. We had a fierce storm 3 days ago and I had a power surge. I had no telephone, no internet and no tv. Everything has to be repaired. I can't believe how quiet it was around here without the tv on and I'm always online, so, I was at a loss. Although I'm back on-line, it seems as if I was away for an eternity. We sure do get used to having technology as a part of our everday existence. I used to read and that was all that I needed to keep me busy.

The good thing is I managed to finish a really neat pendant and beads out of polymer clay and when I put the whole thing together I'll show it to you!!

I can't wait for the fundraiser that my yoga teacher is having for Elizabeth. It takes place on the 9th of August at a Gold's gym in fort lauderdale florida and as I said previously I am donating 2 pieces to be raffled off as my contribution. I hope that we can raise enough to help save her life!! I,m keeping my fingers crossed and I do know that a lot of people are pitching in to help us succeed. If you are wondering what I'm talking about, please go to my post concerning Elizabeth. It's worth a read at least!!

Thanks to all who have commented on my prvious post, I wasn't sure how my little bit of honesty would be received. I appreciate your positive feedback!

PEACE AND LOVE TO ALL!!!

Irked

I have to be completely honest even if some people could be offended. I am always on the forums on Etsy and Chatterbox on Artfire and I'm so tired of people whining. Especially this one: Please critique my shop, sales are slow. So, when I go in to look at their shops, they have something like 30,000 sales and, beautifull shops that I would die for. Hello, what is this a pity party? I have 3 sales on Etsy and 1 on Artfire. I'm not complaining. I keep a positive attitude and try to work as hard as I can promoting!! Whew! That feels good. People should be thankful and appreciate when they've got it good. Sorry! Not really.

Oh well, other than that I've had a great day. I think I'm starting to like this blog thing!

Nothing personal. PEACE AND LOVE TO ALL!

Not what I expected @#!&*!#

So, I decided to work on my piece and really wanted to do some cloisonne . I started with a nice transparent blue and green base and then cut my wires out. I was going to do a palm tree. I used a new adhesive for my cloisonne wire and the design was really great. I had done cloisonne before but with another glue. Okay, I fired it up and #?!*%#@ if the #@#! thing didn't burst into flames in my kiln. Needless to say that adhesive is gone!!!!! I hurried to get the piece out and then was able to clean all the burn off. The copper was still good so I made a change in color and design. Alas!! I had no more cloisonne wire left. Well, here it is.

Starting a New Project

I've cut a piece of heavy guage copper and started to file it into the shape that I have in mind. Sure looks rough now.

Talking To Myself

I was driving to the gym this morning and as usual talking (out loud) to myself. I realized that no one was looking at me as if I were strange and then it hit me, I finally blend in. With the advent of the bluetooth and other small attachable devices it looks as if everyone is talking to themselves and on a closer look they usually have something sticking out of their ears. I'm all for technology.

On a more serious note, I would really like to thank everyone who took the time to read Elizabeth's story and I would also like to thank you for your comments. I think it's very important to get the story out there and maybe develope an awareness about this devasting disease.

Today I'm feeling creative and have some ideas for some new enamels. I'm thinking cloisonne but usually I do abstract and I feel like doing something a little more organized. A scenery etc

I received 2 books from Amazon today and I can't wait to check them out. They are some metal work books and I so do want to improve on my metalsmith techniques.

I'm going to check out the guilds as well and see who our featured studio or artists are. I'll certainly let you know.

All I can say is Peace and Love!!!!!!

My babies

These are a couple of pictures of my babies. Maestro, the yorkshire terrior also known as "devil dog" as if you couldn't tell. Chanel my maltese terrior also known as "the princess". They keep my husband and I very busy. Chanel loves to stay in air conditioning and can always be found on a cushion or doggie bead. Maestro thinks he is a pitbull and is always outside and loves to roll in dirt or terrorize my mother's german shephard who is scared to death of him. Maestro is the leader of the pack. This includes my husband Serge and myself.

To change subjects, it's another extremely warm day in south florida and the sun is shining. I went ot the gym and took a spin class and now am working on a couple of enamel projects that I hope to be able to display this week. Well, I'm off to work.

Peace and love everyone!!!!!

Yay, sales

I feel really good because I had 2 sales on Etsy yesterday. That makes a grand total of 3. I'm only disappointed that I haven't sold anything on Artfire yet. I put in more work there than on Etsy.

I wanted to talk a little (little) bit about my husband. I have a great husband who supports me in what I do and never complains. We've been together for 20 years and I just wanted to let people know that yes, there are still marriages or relationships that are good and work out. I get tired of hearing about the negative on Oprah, Dr. Phil etc. What about a nice story for a change so that we can have a little more positive energy. Well, I don't want to bore you with this post. Spotlight on my husband, a great guy!!!!

Change of subject, I did the dragon flow in Yoga yesterday and I had 2 sales. I feel a lot of positive energy, and it's weird because the last time I did dragon flow I had a sale. Hummmm, something to think about. The universe is listening!

Definitely not Enamel

I didn't make it to the gym today because I wasn't feeling up to par. I was in one of those moods!! I didn't feel like enameling, beading, etc. I went online and found some great tutorials with different wrapping and other jewelry making techniques. The best thing is they were free and so I relieved my boredom by practicing making these little wrapped rings. Lots of fun to do and with some experience could be really pretty! I used artists wire because I didn't feel like practicing with sterling silver or gold filled. Aren't they cute?

I have 2 dogs, a yorkie and a maltese. I was going to groom my maltese but my electric razor broke down. Needless to say Chanel was ecstatic. Now I have to get a new one. I usually do this in my Florida room and Maestro, my yorkie who I call my outside dog, never set his nose outside knowing what I was going to do and that he would have been next!! A very short reprieve I might say. Doggies, your day is coming whether you like it or not! They happen to be very temperamental little angels (buggers the 2 of them). I call them devil dogs.

Does anybody like Mexican? I created a great Mexican Soup (stew) and I think I might want to share the recipe. So scrumptious!!!

Well, I spent the rest of the day chatting on Etsy and going through the forums on Artfire to see what was new. Don't forget my christmas in july sale (cijs) that I'm running starting July 15-26. Visit my shop and see the special section where all items are 25% discounted. Peace and Love and go with the flow!!

Music on your Blog

To anyone who might be interested. I tried different players and they didn't work. I was on someone's blog and clicked on their player and voila, I followed the instructions. So, click on my player for free playlist and you should be redirected to playlist.com. Copy the java html script and go to your layout and add a gadget and paste into java html script. It should work. Good luck!!!

FINALLY MUSIC YAY!!

I almost forgot. I'm so excited that I was finally able to add some music to my blog. I'm simply ecstatic. Do you have a favorite tune? What is it?

It's been awhile

It sure seems like a long time since I posted anything but I've been really busy preparing for a couple of constests.
1: AJDJSS has a contest starting soon called the Garden and I wanted to enter so that's done.
2: The guild with less than 5 sales is running the "Waldo" contest and I have entered that as well.
3: Christmas in July starts on artfire July 15th and runs to the 26th. I have created a special category called of course "Christmas in July" and will be discounting everything there 25%.

Yoga was tough this morning but a great way to start the day. It's been unbareably hot recently and I hope it rains. Believe it or not, I find the rain inspiring and this is when I feel at my most creative.

I think the guilds on Artfire are a good inspiration because sometimes when I seem to be in a rut one of the contests gives me some direction to creativity.

I have to say that I have been a little disappointed with Etsy because although I have contacted a couple of guilds (more than once) I have yet to be contacted. I guess they are too busy or too full. I really wanted to promote there as well.

As I said before it is hot, hot hot, and I feel like cutting all my hair off. I look like a throwback from the seventies with my long hippiesh hair. It's my way of defying society. Haven't we all heard, "At your age isn't it time to cut off your hair?" No way, so I will swelter and besides I don't think it would suit me. Kind of destroy my image!! (Which is all in my own mind anyway!)

All I can say is god bless my girlfriends at the gym who call me the baby even though I hit the BIG 50 in March. No offense intended to those over 50!!!!!!! Go with the flow is my motto!!

I wish everyone peace and love today. Namaste!!

Green with envy

I'm slightly (alot) envious of what http://www.shinelikecrazystudio.blogspot.com/ is doing. When I was in highschool I took woodworking for a couple of years and loved it. When we moved the first thing I did in my new highschool was go to the woodwork shop and was told by the teacher that the class was only for boys!! Imagine that. I have not changed any names to protect any innocents and this is a true story. (Monkland High in NDG, Montreal, Quebec, Canada). No wonder they're closed now. Ha!

mama's baby

It doesn't matter if I'm 50 years old. My mother just dropped by to give me some homemade date squares and peanut butter cookies because I have a sniffle! hmmmm............ don't tell my mother that I'm telling my age.

All in All a good day

I didn't go to my yoga today because I have a slight cold that I don't want to share. So, it's a good day to do some networking and catch up with the guilds on artfire.
I"m not a member of anything on Etsy yet but, I had my first sale 2 days ago. I was really happy because I was getting a bit discouraged. Yay Etsy.
I,m still waiting to see which works out better for me although I have to say I'm on Artfire more often. I enjoy the guilds.
I'm going to enter my first contest on the ajdjss guild and I think I'm going to start working on my project for the garden today!! Exciting!!
P.S. I know I probably miss alot of activities but I still find the forums a bit confusing.

Love and Peace to all. Namaste!!!

Waldo where are you?

As hard as I tried I couldn't find all the Waldos in the shops participating in the this months contest. I searched and even went through some of the shops item by item. I will have to congratulate the winner ahead of time. This contest was run by the shops with less than 5 sales guild on artfire. I have to say that it was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to the next event.

To change the subject I am still finding blogs to send the lovely blog award to and will be adding them to my list.

I went shopping yesterday to add to my supplies and was inspired by some colors that just seem to compliment each other. Sometimes simple is good and I made a great turquoise, red and black necklace and earring set.

Facebook

Did I mention that I'm on facebook? I have a personal page so I'm looking for friends more than for fans. www.facebook.com/susan.fyfe . Let's be friends and have a chat. I always say that you can never have too many friends. What do you think?

To change the subject I'm going to run a contest with a free giveaway one of these days but I haven't figured everything out yet. But, I will!

God Bless and have a great day. Namaste!

And All That Jazz

I went to yoga again today. I try to go at least 3 mornings per week. People say I'm flexible but they don't see the aches I have. Is this the beginning of the end? I just turned fifty and some of my friends call me the baby.
Well, I'm still on all 5 guilds that I joined and trying to stay active. It's alot of work when you don't know what you're doing but I have to say that I get a real feeling of accomplishment when I emerge victorious!!! It's good to figure things out.
I have to say that some of the artists are spectacular and I think that I'm going to start posting some of their sites here and hope that maybe they'll return the favor.
I joined flickr as well and that's a good experience bacause I find it easy to work with. I've started posting some pictures there as well. Look for me at www.jewelrybyfyfe. flickr.com. I also joined another site called ning and this is my favorite of all. I don't know why!! I joined twitter and still haven't seen it's potential. Maybe I'm missing something. I didn't put the links because I have to figure them out. Anyways, I can always come to edit. It's my blog,, ha, ha. And Blah, blah, blah!!! LOL

Stormy weather

Seeing that it's raging today in south florida (lots of lightening) I don't think it's a good idea to fire up the kiln. So, I found some bone beads that were hanging around and put them together with some sterling wire and voila!! I made a pair of earrings

Enameling

I've had a bite to eat and am firing up the kiln to battle with 2 obstinate pieces that are giving me a bit of trouble (color, texture etc). Wish me luck! I have a good feeling. I think I'll start another blog to go through the steps in enameling. Maybe it would interest someone.

guilds etc

I went to yoga this morning at 8:00 and it was a really tough class. Anyway, I wanted to talk about the fact that I haven't posted for a while. That's because I joined a few different guilds on Artfire and am trying to keep up with the requirements of each guild. I never thought I would do anything like this but I am starting to really enjoy the challenge. One of the reasons that it is so challenging for me is that I've never really done much on a computor. I have to say that since I've joined Artfire I have gained so much knowledge that I almost impress myself. This blog is a good example. There are so many talented people and artists it's incredible. I would like to take my hat off to all the guild leaders. Wow, what imagination and I can only imagine the work that goes into everything they do. And, it's all to help us promote each other. All I can say is thank god for the guilds and the incentive they are giving me!!! Well, I'm off to the forums to try and keep up!!! Have a great day.

What Now?

I joined Etsy and Artfire and am waiting for a first sale.I wonder which site will work best for me. I like them both. Very easy to work with especially for someone challenged on a computor like me. I have never typed, bloged, facebooked etc so much in my life. It sometimes gets confusing. At least I'm learning alot and meeting some nice people. I'm very lucky to have run into some great people on Etsy who don't mind sharing their experience. So, check out;

2: www.jewelrybyfyfe.artfire.com

Let me know which one you like. Thanks

Enameling and other jewelry

I started to enamel in the 70's and really loved it. I didn't keep up with it of course. You need time $ etc. Real life was working 9-5 as a service advisor in a car dealership amongst other "exciting" jobs. Now, this is like a dream come true. To be able to create. I'm still new at it and sometimes it takes my breath away, all the endless possibilites!
About 2 years ago I went into a Rag Shop ( craft and hobby store) that was going out of business. They had these little kits to make jewelry. I said to myself "this is for kids but I don't care, I'm buying them anyways". I had so much fun and was proud when I finished the earrings, necklace and bracelet. Wow, these aren't so bad after all. So, this is beading? Don't I start thinking about the past. Enameling. This could be great. So, proudly I have started to create some unique pieces.

Just a little talk

So, this is the first time that I've attempted to blog, so bear with me and I'll try not to bore you. Yesterday, my husband and I walked the beach in Pompano Florida where we live. Ever since one of my friends, who is an amazing artist started collecting rocks to build these enormous panels in cement, I have fallen in love with rocks. They are all so unique. So, to make a long story short, we walked the coastline and found some amazing beach stones for me to create some jewelry with. Imagine finding your supplies in nature!! I love it.
